Overview

This three-hour guided tour offers an engaging and emotionally powerful journey through the key sites connected to the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. The main part of the experience is a visit to the Warsaw Uprising Museum, followed by a short walking tour through nearby locations that preserve the memory of the city’s heroic struggle for freedom.

Itinerary (3 hours total)

  1. Warsaw Uprising Museum (approx. 1.5 hours)

Your tour begins at the Warsaw Uprising Museum, one of the most immersive historical museums in Poland.
Inside, you will explore:

  • Interactive exhibits documenting the daily life of insurgents and civilians
  • Authentic weapons, uniforms, and underground press machines
  • A life-size replica of the Błyskawica radio station
  • A 3D projection “City of Ruins”, showing Warsaw destroyed after the uprising
  • The insurgent sewer passage, allowing you to understand how fighters moved through the city

The museum experience provides a strong historical foundation before visiting the real locations connected with the uprising.

  1. Freedom Park & Monument to the Insurgents (10 minutes)

Just outside the museum lies Freedom Park, home to several monuments dedicated to the participants of the uprising. It’s a tranquil space perfect for reflection before continuing the walk.

  1. PAST-a Building (15 minutes)

A short drive or tram ride takes you to the PAST-a building, one of the most symbolic insurgent victories.
During the uprising, capturing this German-held telecommunications building was a major strategic success. Today, the exterior still shows traces of wartime damage.

  1. Warsaw Uprising Monument – Krasiński Square (15 minutes)

Next, you visit the Warsaw Uprising Monument, the largest and most widely recognized tribute to the insurgents.
It depicts fighters emerging from under a collapsing building and entering the sewer system—one of the most striking representations of their struggle.
